What is CoffeeVac 460g Coffee Canister for Coffee Beans anyway?

A practical CoffeeVac for fresher coffee storage

The CoffeeVac 460g is designed for about 460g of whole coffee beans. Once a bag is open, an airtight canister with a one-way valve gives your coffee a more consistent storage routine. As a barista, I recommend choosing the size that matches the amount you actually use rather than leaving a large canister half empty.

The lid closes the canister and the one-way valve supports the release of carbon dioxide from freshly roasted beans while limiting new oxygen entering. The canister does not make old coffee fresh again, but it helps protect freshly roasted beans from unnecessary exposure to air, light, moisture and surrounding odours.

How to use it

Take the amount you need, close the lid immediately and store the canister in a cool, dry and dark place at room temperature. Grind only the amount you need for the brew.

Who is this size for?

This model suits a slim medium supply. If you buy a full kilo and want to keep the original packaging, choose the 1kg CoffeeVac: place the opened bag upright inside, fold the open part inwards, close it with a coffee clip and then close the canister.

Choose the 500g model for a direct half-kilo fit, or the 1kg model for a full bag. See the CoffeeVac collection for all sizes. For a full storage routine, read How to Store Coffee Beans.

Cleaning and care

Empty the canister, wash it with mild soapy water and dry it completely with a clean tea towel. Do not use a dishwasher or microwave. Only refill it when the inside, lid and sealing edge are dry.

What the producer says

TightVac states that CoffeeVac products can keep coffee fresh for up to three times longer than conventional storage containers. This is the manufacturer’s claim, not a fixed freshness guarantee from Eddy’s Coffee. Roast date, correct sizing and closing the lid after every use remain important.

Brazilian Coffee

While flavor profiles vary by region, Brazilian coffee is known for its low acidity, full body, and dark roast , making it the most popular for espresso drinks. Brazilian beans often have flavor notes of caramel, chocolate, nuts, and spices, and are less fruity.

Veelgestelde vragen

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is Specialty Coffee ?

Specialty coffee is coffee of exceptionally high quality, with unique flavors and aromas. It is produced with attention to detail and craftsmanship, from the harvest of the coffee cherries to the roasting and brewing process. It requires carefully selected and processed coffee beans of the highest quality and is often produced by
small-scale producers who focus on sustainability and fair trade.

Is 460g a hard limit?

No. It is a practical guide. Bean size and density vary, so do not force the fill and always leave the lid able to close properly.

Can an opened 500g bag stay in this canister?

That depends on the shape of the packaging. Loose beans around 460g fit best; use the 1kg model when you want to keep a larger bag including its packaging.

What does the one-way valve add?

The airtight closure limits contact with surrounding air and the valve supports gas release from freshly roasted coffee.

Who benefits from a 460g supply?

It suits people who drink several cups a day but do not want a full kilogram open at once.

When is 1kg better than 460g?

Choose 1kg when you buy kilo bags or want to keep the original opened bag, including its roast information, inside the canister.

Can I store two coffees in one 460g canister?

Technically yes, but I recommend one coffee per canister so aromas do not mix. Use separate storage for espresso, filter or decaf.

Does colour affect storage?

No. Black and mocca have the same size, closure and storage function.

What if the canister closes less easily?

Check the rim and lid for a bean, coffee residue or moisture. Wash the canister, dry it fully and close it on a clean edge.

When is the Pump more practical?

The Pump is intended for about 250g and gives manual control over extra air removal. It is not the medium-size alternative.
