How to Store Fresh Coffee Beans
Freshly roasted coffee beans keep developing after roasting, but they also gradually lose volatile aroma when exposed to oxygen, heat, moisture, light and surrounding smells. The goal of storage is therefore not to make old coffee fresh again, but to slow unnecessary deterioration after opening.
Use an airtight coffee canister
A CoffeeVac closes airtight and has a one-way degassing valve. The valve supports the release of gas from freshly roasted beans while the closed canister limits new oxygen entering. Choose 250g for a small daily supply, 460g or 500g for a medium supply, 880g for a larger loose-bean supply and 1kg when you want to keep a full original bag inside the canister.
Keep the original bag in the 1kg model
After opening a kilo bag, fill your machine reservoir, fold the open part of the bag inwards, close it with a coffee clip and place the bag upright inside the 1kg CoffeeVac. This keeps the roast date, origin and flavour information with the coffee and avoids transferring beans unnecessarily.
Storage routine
- Close the canister immediately after dosing.
- Store it cool, dry and dark at room temperature.
- Grind only what you need.
- Wash with mild soapy water and dry fully before changing coffee.
